Crippled America by Donald Trump

Crippled America Donald Trump

         Crippled America Donald Trump

I am not endorsing any candidate. I am just here to share an opinion of books that I’ve recently read. And this week, I just read Donald Trump’s book today entitled Crippled America. And by the looks of it, he is kinda right in a lot of aspects. The foundation of which this country was built is to show the world that America is a great nation. A nation of leaders, a nation that encourages its citizens to be the best of the best. Seeing how most of the things & ideals the older generation of Americans used to value is deteriorating, such as the values & principles our children should be living with today, most people in society truly are shaking their heads in disbelief but there’s nothing they can do because there’s just so many things going on with their lives right now that they can’t seem to comprehend what to prioritize first.

If you are from the lower economic strata & faced with decisions that include healthcare & paying your rent & just trying to get by, it’s hard to take a proactive approach on how to change the world & society you live in. So now here comes Trump, reminding most Americans of what is happening to the world we live in & why America is out of shape. As a member of society, we all want to live a better life. And Trump knows what better life or living the best life means. According to his book, he is worth $10 billion dollars & counting since he said the value of his networth constantly changes depending on the world economy because he has properties all over the world.

But he has a vision for the United States. He has a vision of bringing back the glory days of the USA. Read his book to find out more & you can decide for yourself. I must say it was an enlightening & entertaining & informative book.

The Value Of Charter Schools

We know that good & high quality, high standard education should be a right of every human being. But lately, most people think it has become a privilege in the society we live in today. Too often, we vilify the school system if our children are failing. But the good news that has been out there lately are the so-called charter schools.

But what exactly makes charter schools special? Charter schools, although under the banner of the local school district,  have the autonomy on how to run their school. These schools operate on a way that benefits their students more than a local public school. If you are lucky to live near a public school that’s a charter school, expect that the teachers are often more qualified to teach the subjects on those charter schools.

I see that on my children’s charter schools, they have more mentoring programs, tutoring programs & afterschool programs that offer a safe environment for the children while their parents are at work. Children even come home without needing to rush to finish their homework because they already did it during afterschool. So they come home ready to rest early to face the challenges of the next day.

And if your children are in a high school that offers AP(Advance Placement) classes in their school, you should encourage your child to take those so they can credit it towards college. It would save them time & money if they already took general courses while still in high school.

The world has now become a competitive place. Even universities & colleges in the United States are not only competing with the best of the best students from the whole American population but they are competing with the best of the best of the world. If you can supplement the educational needs of your children, whether it be art, music or sports, that might even enable them to get a scholarship in college from the school of their choice.

Cleansing and Detox Using Apple Cider Vinegar

Bragg organic apple cider vinegar

Bragg organic apple cider vinegar

2-3 tablespoon of Bragg organic apple cider vinegar & 8 oz of mineral water

Although I’m a health buff that doesn’t drink alcohol, don’t do drugs, don’t smoke, I admit, I still love eating fatty foods! A friend of mine recommended I try mixing 2 tablespoons of Bragg organic apple cider vinegar to 8 oz of water to cleanse my body of unwanted toxins. After doing some online research, I found out that a lot of people have tried using it. So I told myself, I guess it’s about time I try it too. I usually do it once a week. I fill my 8 oz glass with mineral water & 2 tablespoons of Bragg organic apple cider vinegar. Keep in mind that you can only do it using Bragg organic apple cider vinegar. I read before that even Dr. Oz recommends this cleansing drink too.

So now, everytime I feel like I’ve eaten so much of that fatty stuff, I make it a point to do an organic apple cider vinegar cleanse at the end of the week. At first, drinking it feels weird. That’s why they recommend you mix with water so as not to burn your stomach linings & even your esophagus. After drinking my full 8 oz glass of water w/ my organic apple cider vinegar, I woke up feeling fresh and good. I really felt different & it feels like some of my fats were dissolved & melted and won’t clog the arteries of my heart while I was getting a good night’s sleep.

Some online posts on google also states this apple cider vinegar drink is also good for the liver, decreases water retention and that bloating feeling and manages blood pressure. I don’t know if this diet drink can also be used to lose weight safely, but maybe as long as you do it once a week. The best place to buy this vinegar is at any GNC outlet near you. When I started this diet, I opted to buy the smallest bottle at GNC. Once I got the hang of it, I got another small bottle. So as not to damage the enamel of your teeth, you might want to use a straw when drinking it from a glass.

If you have ever tried this cleansing diet, let me know how it turned out for you by leaving a comment.

Christmas Gifts for Kids

dollhouse for girls

dollhouse for girls

Was there ever a time in your life where you wanted a gift so badly that you wished Santa would bring it on Christmas? When I was young, me and my friends always wanted to have a huge dollhouse that’s as tall as us. We kept writing to Santa to send us that gift. We reasoned that we were good the whole year. We wrote that we listened to our parents & helped clean our rooms, that we fed our pets and always asked permission before using anything in the house. But Santa forgot about our letters. And we were sad when the gifts we got for Christmas didn’t include a huge box w/ a ribbon on it. A huge box for us then meant that Santa had to put the dollhouse in the box or it will fall from the sleigh.

Fast forward to the future and here we are, now married mothers of little girls. And our mini-me just wants a dollhouse. With the internet always on, they can now browse online by themselves & have a variety of choices w/ regards to the dollhouse. And no, we can’t even tell them make-believe stories that they should write Santa & only Santa can give them the gift if they deserve it. The mystique & myth of Santa has been shattered by the advent of the internet. Little kids are much wiser now. This new generation knows that there’s lots of stores to choose from & they can just order online if Mommy doesn’t wanna take them to the store to buy their “toy of the year”. I’m glad my little girl isn’t that insistent on getting a dollhouse. But then I remembered my childhood dream. And I realized, maybe, just maybe, I can make it happen & we can cherish the moment when “Santa” finally read our letter & granted us our wish & we’ll wake up on Christmas morning w/ that big box w/ a bow under our Christmas tree.

Cheryl Cole a.k.a. Cheryl Fernandez-Versini

Who isn’t in awe of Cheryl Cole? From the moment she emerged as a winner in Popstars UK, then becoming a member of Girls Aloud, she has been on a constant media spotlight. People are inspired by her success, with that Geordie accent & saccharine sweet smile. I love all her songs. My favorite is Fight For This Love. But then came Crazy Stupid Love featuring Tinie Tempah. It shows you hardwork & believing in yourself equals success, that success is within reach if you really want it.

When I became a mom of 3, my time to glam up has been reduced to a minute or two. I’m now a dash & go type of Mom. The only make-up essential that I can’t do without is my lipstick. A friend of mine gave me a MAC Russian Red as a gift. I always wanted that true red lipstick and the MAC Russian Red did it for me. I saw an actress acquaintance recently, sporting that neon pink lipstick & she tweeted that she’s using MAC Candy Yum Yum. From now on, MAC Russian Red will be my night lippy & the MAC Candy Yum Yum will be my official pink lippy during the day.

Natalia Vodianova on Vanity Fair September 2014

Last night, I was reading Vanity Fair September 2014 issue with Natalia Vodianova on the cover. I have followed a bit of her lifestory previously but I didn’t know she really came from poverty. I won’t spoil it for you so you can check it out by getting your own copy of Vanity Fair. But like a phoenix rising from the ashes, she overcame all those hurdles & made something out of herself. She had the courage & willpower to stand up after each fall. Kudos to women like Natalia.

I also read there that the favorite song of one of my favorite fashion icons, Michael Kors, is Native New Yorker by Odyssey.  I was just humming this song a few days ago. Music of the 70s & the good old days…

Pesto Cavatappi Recipe

When I was touring Washington DC with my family, I craved for some pasta. That’s when we found Corner Bakery Cafe at the National Press Building. It was a cool place to have lunch & the menu was affordable. I ordered pesto cavatappi & hubby ordered the spinach sweet crisp salad while the kids had their child serving of mac & cheese. They also got a free juice & free cookie. The food was delish. Couldn’t get it off my mind so when we got back to Los Angeles, I immediately searched online for a recipe that I can tweak. Here’s my very own version of pesto cavatappi:

  • 1 lb macaroni pasta
  • 14.5 oz alfredo sauce
  • 3-4 tbsp pesto basil sauce
  • seasoned Italian bread crumbs
  • 1 cup chopped rotiserrie chicken
  • grated parmesan cheese
  • salt & pepper (optional)

Boil water. Add pasta. When it’s al dente, drain the pasta. Then, add the alfredo sauce & the pesto basil sauce. Keep stirring. After 3 minutes, add the chopped rotiserrie chicken. Sprinkle with grated parmesan cheese & salt & pepper to taste.

Serves 3-4

Since it was my first time to use a ready-made pesto sauce, I couldn’t quite decide which one to use so I bought 3. One of them has cheese already.

You can also serve with garlic bread on the side. Served using my Royal Albert plate. Happy eating!
